FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Box Body Vehicle
FAQs.

What is a box body vehicle?

A box body vehicle is a chassis cab fitted with a purpose-built enclosed body, constructed from GRP, plywood or aluminium. Unlike a panel van, the body is built to exact dimensions and specification, allowing precise internal layouts, insulation, specialist racking and full branding that standard vans cannot accommodate.

What body materials are available?

We work with builders using GRP (glass reinforced plastic), plywood and aluminium construction. GRP is lightweight and durable for long-haul and multi-drop work. Plywood is cost-effective for internal shelving-heavy fit-outs. Aluminium is preferred for maximum strength, hygiene-critical applications and refrigerated bodies.

Can box body vehicles be temperature controlled?

Yes. We specify insulated bodies for ambient temperature protection and can integrate refrigeration units for chilled or frozen distribution. All temperature-controlled builds are specified to meet relevant food safety and pharmaceutical cold chain requirements.

What chassis cab sizes are available?

We source chassis cabs across the full range from 3.5 tonne through to 18 tonne. We work with all major manufacturers including Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Iveco, MAN, DAF and Volvo, selecting the right base vehicle for your payload, route and dimensional requirements.

How long does a box body build take?

Lead times typically range from 8 to 16 weeks depending on body specification, internal fit-out complexity, chassis availability and converter scheduling. For urgent requirements, pre-built stock options may be available with shorter lead times.

Do you supply single vehicles or fleet programmes?

Both. Whether you need one box body vehicle or a phased fleet replacement programme, Vanadam provides the same managed service with structured procurement, consistent specification and nationwide delivery.
