Versatile flatbed vehicles with removable sides for fast, unrestricted loading of building materials, plant, pallets and heavy equipment. Professionally specified and delivered UK wide.
One partner. Every stage. From specification through to handover.
A dropside van is a flatbed vehicle built on a van or chassis cab platform, fitted with a rigid load deck and hinged side panels that drop away to allow unrestricted access from any direction. This makes loading and unloading faster, safer and far more practical than enclosed alternatives when working with long or bulky materials.
Dropsides are available across a wide GVW range, typically from 3.5 tonnes up to 7.5 tonnes, with body lengths to suit your payload requirements. Aluminium and steel body construction options are available to balance weight saving against durability.
Vanadam sources, specifies and manages the complete build of your dropside vehicle through one dedicated account manager, handling everything from base vehicle procurement through to conversion management and nationwide delivery.

Ideal for transporting timber, blocks, bricks and long-length materials directly to site with fast side-access unloading and no enclosed body restrictions.
Dropside bodies are the preferred choice for scaffold tube and board transport, allowing full-length loading from the side and quick drops between jobs.
Move paving slabs, topsoil, aggregates and plant from multiple sides without lifting over high panels. Tail lifts available for heavier loads.
Flat open decks allow plant and equipment to be loaded quickly with a forklift or hoist without the constraints of fixed body sides or enclosed panels.
Every dropside is built to suit how your teams work. We specify the right base vehicle, body build and added equipment from the full range of options below.

A dropside van is built on a van or chassis cab base with a flat open load deck and hinged side panels that drop down or are fully removed for side access. A flatbed has no sides at all. Dropsides give you the flexibility of side access when needed with the option of retaining sides to contain loads in transit. Both are available through Vanadam depending on your operational requirements.
Dropside vehicles are available from 3.5 tonnes GVW, which can be driven on a standard car licence, through to 7.5 tonnes. The right GVW depends on your payload requirements, body weight and any ancillary equipment such as a tail lift. Your Vanadam account manager will advise on the correct specification for your application.
Yes. Aluminium bodies are lighter, which increases payload capacity and reduces fuel consumption, making them popular where GVW is tight. Steel bodies are heavier but better suited to high-impact applications such as scaffold or block work where the body takes heavy daily punishment. We will advise on the right choice based on how you use the vehicle.
Yes. Tuck-under or column tail lifts can be specified on dropside vehicles where the payload or working environment requires assisted loading and unloading. This is particularly useful for landscapers, plant hire and any application where loads are too heavy to lift manually.
Chapter 8 chevron markings are required for any vehicle that works on or near live carriageways including highways maintenance, utilities and traffic management operations. We can specify and fit Chapter 8 compliant chevron kits as part of your conversion, ensuring the vehicle is compliant from day one of operation.
We work with businesses of all sizes. Whether you need a single replacement vehicle or a structured fleet procurement programme, Vanadam provides the same dedicated managed service with one account manager responsible for your order from start to finish.
