Open platform vehicles for heavy, oversized and awkward loads. Crane mounting, plant transport, building materials and anything that will not fit in a box. Sourced and delivered nationwide by Vanadam Commercials.
When unrestricted load access matters, a flatbed is the right vehicle.
Flatbed vehicles provide a flat, open cargo platform with unrestricted access from every angle. No enclosed body, no roof, no sides to work around. For operators handling plant machinery, building materials, steel, timber, or any load that needs crane or forklift access, a flatbed is the logical choice.
Vanadam sources flatbed vehicles built on proven chassis cabs from all major manufacturers, specified with the platform length, body material and load-securing options your operation requires. Platform bodies are built to order by approved UK bodybuilders, managed through Vanadam as a single point of contact.
From 3.5 tonne light commercials to heavy rigids with crane or hiab mounting capability, we cover the full range needed for construction, plant hire, building supplies and infrastructure work.
Site deliveries of steel reinforcement, formwork, drainage pipes and building materials that need crane off-loading or unloading from above.
Transportation of compact plant, attachments and equipment between sites. Flatbeds allow easy drive-on, drive-off or lift-on delivery.
Merchants and builders merchants requiring multi-drop capable vehicles that can be unloaded at any point along the platform with a forklift or crane.
Cable drums, ducting, pipes and heavy plant for gas, electric, water and telecoms infrastructure projects requiring open-platform transport.
Every flatbed vehicle is specified around the loads you carry, the sites you visit and how you need to secure and access your cargo:

We work only with approved UK platform bodybuilders, ensuring your vehicle meets the specification and compliance standards your operation requires.
From 3.5t light commercial flatbeds to heavy rigid platforms with hiab mounting capability, we source across the complete weight range.
Whether you need one specialist flatbed or a standardised fleet, Vanadam manages the scale and complexity from a single account.
A flatbed has a completely open, flat platform with no side or rear boards, giving unrestricted overhead and side access for crane loading and oversized cargo. A dropside vehicle has hinged boards on the sides and rear that can be lowered to allow access but provide containment when raised. Flatbeds are preferred where overhead loading, plant transport or crane access is the primary requirement.
Yes. Flatbed vehicles can be specified with crane or hiab mounting provisions as part of the body build, with the chassis selected to accommodate the additional axle loading and outrigger requirements. Vanadam manages the chassis selection and crane fitment through approved specialists to ensure the completed vehicle is correctly plated and compliant.
We source flatbed vehicles across the full GVW range. Light commercial flatbeds from 3.5 tonnes are suitable for trades and construction deliveries on a Cat B licence. Medium rigids from 7.5 tonnes and heavy rigids to 26 tonnes are available for larger platforms and heavier payloads requiring Cat C1 or Cat C licences.
Platform bodies are typically built in steel or aluminium depending on the payload requirement and weight optimisation needed. Hardwood platform surfaces are available on certain configurations. Vanadam will advise on the most appropriate material based on your application and loading conditions.
Flatbed platforms are fitted with lashing rings and securing points along the platform sides and at the rear, allowing load straps and chains to be used in compliance with load-securing regulations. Headboards provide rear cab protection and a forward anchor point. Additional securing provisions can be specified as part of the body build.
Yes. Vanadam manages flatbed fleet programmes with standardised platform specifications and phased delivery schedules. Whether you need two vehicles or twenty, one account manager handles the entire process with no multiple-supplier complexity on your side.
